Are Stock images worth the cost?
Tuesday 18th February 2014
Leading usability expert Jakob Nielsen's research has suggested that stock photography adds nothing to a page content, with the majority of images being ignored by users.
Nielsen's eyetracking studies found that users spend 10% more time viewing (real) people photos than the bios located around them, event though the text consumed 316% more space.
In summerising his finding Neilsen suggests that "Users pay close attention to photos and other images that contain relevant information but ignore fluffy pictures used to "jazz up" Web pages."
